Nelly returns to Fargo! The three-time Grammy award winning artist will be performing at Scheels Arena with special guests Juvenile and Thee United Empire on Friday, October 26th. Tickets go on sale at 10 AM, Friday, August 24th.
A saavy pop-rapper with crossover appeal, Nelly, seemed like a novelty when he first debuted in 2000 with "Country Grammer (Hot...) yet he was no one-hit wonder, consistently returning to the pop charts with smash hits like "Hot in Herre," "Grillz," and "Dilemma." His universality was partly rooted in his hometown - the Gateway City - officially known as St. Louis, Missouri - which set him apart from all of the prevailing rap styles of his time.
Nelly's locale certainly informed his rapping style, which was both country and urban at the same time, as well as his dialect, which combined a Southern drawl with Midwestern twang. Plus, Nelly never shied away from the pop-rap approach, embracing a singalong vocal style that made his hooks catchier than most.
Having come up in the Hot Boys group alongside superstar Lil Wayne, New Orleans Rapper Juvenile is a Southern hip-hop veteran, and a chart-topping one as well, having climbed the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with his 2004 single "Slow Motion."
