December 10 & 17 at 2 p.m.
The Stage at Island Park.
It’s December 21, 1942 and radio station W-O-V is about to go live for their annual holiday broadcast. On stage and back stage, the stresses of the Christmas season and the war abroad are affecting the inner workings of the program as the station management, technicians, and musical talent struggle to pull everything together before the “on air” sign lights up.
Featuring a 15-piece onstage jazz band comprised of members of the FM Kicks Band and a talented 17 person cast directed by Darcy & Lauren Brandenburg, the FMCT stage will sizzle this holiday season with jazz standards and Christmas classics from the 1930s and 1940s including: “Blues in the Night,” “Blue Moon,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” The 1940s Radio Hour is a big band holiday delight most appropriate for ages eight and up. This toe-tapping, nostalgia-filled musical by Walton Jones crackles with comedy, music, and dance from start to finish.
An audio described performance will be offered on Friday, December 8, while assistive listening devices are available to patrons at the FMCT Box Office for all performances.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on November 20. To purchase tickets, or to become a member of FMCT, visit fmct.org or call 701.235.6778.
