The importance of communication is paramount in the workplace, as we deal with clients, customers and co-workers. In this session, you will learn about the various forms of communication: phone, email, voice mail, face-to-face and social media, and how to make it more effective. You will learn listening skills with a chance to practice. Also included will be learning steps to diffuse negative communication.
In this session, you’ll learn:
• That communication comes in many different formats – spoken, written and non-verbal.
• To assess your listening skills and take away areas for improvement.
• How to grasp the impact of communication as it relates to technology.

About the speaker
Jill Berg is the owner/president of Spherion Staffing. She started the first Spherion franchise in North Dakota in 1994 in Fargo and opened the Bismarck market in 1997. She has 25 employees on her staff throughout North Dakota, South Dakota and West Central Minnesota with a network of five branch offices.
Berg has received numerous recognition awards for both operational and sales excellence from Spherion Corporation including the 2015 Franchise Owner of the Year and the Special Achievement Award in 2016. She was recognized by Prairie Business as a Top 25 Women in Business in March 2017 and was a finalist for the ChamberChoice Entrepreneur of the Year in 2017.
Berg is past president of the national Spherion Franchise Advisory Board and has served numerous terms as a regional director. She is an active member of The Chamber, having served on and chaired the Business Training committee for over 17 years. Berg participates in the Agassiz Valley Human Resource Association, Lakes Country Human Resource Association and SHRM. She is a member and past president of Fargo West Rotary, serves on the Executive Committee of the American Red Cross Board and the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce Board. Berg belongs to the Paradigm Group, a CEO Roundtable exchange between area business leaders and CEO Solutions, a “Traction” focused strategy group.
Berg has a B.A. in general studies with an emphasis in psychology and English from Ambassador University in Pasadena, California. Berg delivers over 25 years of business entrepreneurship, staff development, sales and financial business management.
