The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties will be hosting a series of Yoga in the
Park, FOGA fundraisers this summer in Island Park. FOGA – Fargo Organization Giving
through Asana – is a movement to create unity and rally around local causes in the
Fargo/Moorhead community. It was started by Julie Cook, Vice President of Member
and Program Services at the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties, as a way to channel
Fargo’s passion for yoga into fundraising efforts for local nonprofits. FOGA’s mission is
to make yoga community-minded, accessible and fun while being advocates for
creating peace, goodwill, and meaningful change in our community.
How does FOGA raise money?
FOGA hosts yoga classes around the Fargo/Moorhead area for various non-profits and
initiatives. Classes are not held in studios but rather unusual, creative and public
places such as parking lots, riverbanks, barns, warehouses – anywhere! Events are
donation-based (with a suggested donation of minimum $5). 100% of all proceeds
go to local charities. FOGA classes are energetic and relaxing! Participants can
bring their own mat and a group of friends! All ages and abilities welcome.
