Google Ad Words: Students Become the Experts

For 11 Chamber member businesses, North Dakota State University students became their personal marketing gurus. The students, who were all members of assistant professor of marketing Mike Krush’s class, met with their assigned clients to learn about their businesses, develop marketing plans and implement them.

 

The project was funded through a competition with Google AdWords where each team was given a $250 budget to develop and run an advertising campaign for a business for a three-week period. The students then tracked their results which they presented to their respective businesses along with recommendations on ways to continue marketing efforts.

 

“Our students are applying their skills to help Chamber clients learn about their target markets and drive more business to their websites,” said Krush. “NDSU students are also competing internationally and testing their marketing skills. It’s a great opportunity to demonstrate their learning.”

 

This is the second year NDSU has partnered with The Chamber in the Google AdWords competition. Last year, NDSU had four of the 46 teams placing in the top 15 percent.
