Celebrating 25 Years with Preference Personnel

For the past 25 years, Preference Personnel, Inc. has been a staple of community enrichment, involvement, and commitment. Preference Personnel has made investing in the people and the businesses of Fargo Moorhead a priority. To businesses and job seekers in the FM area, Preference Personnel is the needed connection between the business and potential employee.

Founded in 1987 by Candice Dietz, Preference Personnel originally focused on full-time employment with the search mainly funded by the applicant, which is contrary to the current system where there is no cost to the applicant. In September 1990, her husband Larry joined the company as CEO and they added temporary and temp-to-hire work to their services. With the addition of these options Preference Personnel opened the door to many more businesses and job seekers.

“Preference Personnel helps small businesses to large corporations and everything in between,” says senior recruiter Kara Jorvig.

Preference Personnel is hired by businesses to help identify and qualify talent based on each business’s needs. They specialize in finding talent for multiple industries including: executive/professional, industrial/labor and office/administrative.

The 15 member staff at Preference Personnel is passionate for their profession. Many members of Preference Personnel’s staff are certified staffing professionals. Their expertise and local ownership enable them to customize their staffing solutions to meet the unique needs of each client. “Our career is very rewarding” says Dietz. “We help businesses grow through the people we place. We are creating job opportunities.”

In 2008, Preference Personnel became a 100% employee owned (ESOP) company. This not only displays Preference Personnel’s commitment to its employees, but also to the community as they are focused on remaining local and independent.

“The number one reason why I wanted our family business to have employee ownership is because I felt it could give our company greater potential for future success if everyone had an ownership stake,” said David Dietz, Vice President of Preference Personnel.

Though Preference Personnel has connections statewide, their focus is on the FM region. Being involved with and giving back to the community has built a strong reputation for Preference Personnel.

Preference Personnel sees the future as an opportunity to grow in the community. “We are looking to increase staff so we can invest more into the businesses and people we help” says Dietz.
