Ned Halilovic had a desire to be an entrepreneur. He came to the U.S. in 1996 as a refugee from Bosnia and later went to school at Concordia College. While there, Halilovic majored in political science and pre-law and had an internship in Chicago. But upon graduation, he still felt lost. In 2001, he decided to start his own commercial and residential janitorial service, Ambassador, Inc. and landed his first account with Timberlodge Steakhouse in Fargo.
“I really built the business from the ground up,” said Halilovic. “As my name spread, I got more leads and the company grew.”
Ambassador Cleaning provides specialized cleaning, detailing, janitorial and daily or nightly maintenance services for companies of all sizes. “We clean businesses like Scheels, Menards and Sunmart Foods,” says Halilovic. “We really deal with a variety of organizations across Fargo Moorhead.”
In 2007, Halilovic bought Rainbow International Fargo. With this addition came a new set of restoration services, including work with homes and buildings damaged by flood, fire, smoke and mold. During last year’s flood, Halilovic and his team helped clean 36 homes in the Minot area.
Today, Halilovic serves as president of Ambassador, Inc., and has 40 employees and a new location on Beaton Drive in Fargo. But he’s not done growing. The new location houses a classroom which can hold up to 40 people. Halilovic plans to use that space for continuing education classes for insurance professionals four to six times a year.
He’s also planning on staying active in The Chamber, an organization he believes is vital to the growth of his business. “I truly believe in the power of networking,” he said. “If you want to grow your business, you need to be a member of The Chamber.”
