Speaker Line Up for 2012 Economic Outlook Forum Announced

Wall Street Journal Economist to Keynote Economic Outlook Forum

 Fargo Moorhead, ND/MN (January 26, 2012) – Stephen Moore, lead economist for The Wall Street Journal and author of “How North Dakota Became Saudi Arabia,” will keynote the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber’s Economic Outlook Forum on February 28.

The Chamber hosts the Economic Outlook Forum to bring together national experts and local leaders to discuss global economic trends and examine the regional landscape and factors that will keep the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo area competitive.

Moore will be joined by a panel of business and industry leaders, including:

  • Robert Benson, president and CEO of the North American Coal Corporation
  • Peter Christianson, president and chief operating officer of Titan Machinery
  • Dean Bresciani, president of North Dakota State University

Benson will discuss the local impact of the energy industry and the economic opportunities it presents. The North American Coal Corporation, a subsidiary of NACCO Industries, Inc., mines and markets lignite coal primarily as fuel for power generation and provides selected value-added mining services for other natural resources companies. 

Christianson will share an agricultural perspective of the region’s economic outlook. Titan Machinery represents a diversified mix of agricultural, construction, and consumer products dealerships located in the upper Midwest. 

Bresciani will give his perspective on higher education institutions as economic engines. Bresciani will share how higher education can feed positive perceptions of our region, broaden our economic base and attract and retain young people. Bresciani has a Ph.D. in Higher Education-Finance with a doctoral minor in economics.
