Military Families Honored with Military Appreciation Day

Area military and their families will be honored with Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, November 12.

A joint effort of The Chamber, North Dakota State University and Kadrmas Lee & Jackson, Military Appreciation Day will treat military families to a patriotic-themed Bison football game at the FARGODOME.

Service families will receive first-class treatment at a pre-game reception sponsored by The Chamber and the regional business community. Operation: Military Kids will offer pre-game youth programming for military children ages 8 and up. Volunteers from the North Dakota National Guard Youth Council, Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson and NDSU Extension will assist with activities including 4-H Robotics and Eat Smart, Play Hard.

The NDSU Athletic Department will recognize Wounded Warrior Eric Martz, who will be involved in the coin toss. The crowd will join in the experience throughout the game.

“From fighting our spring floods to serving abroad, hundreds of families living in the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo region have dedicated their lives to serving their neighbors,” said Chamber President/CEO Craig Whitney. “The Chamber’s Military Affairs committee is on a mission to foster a community of support for the men and women of our military and the missions they carry out on our behalf.”

With an annual economic impact to the region of over $65 million and the most reliable arsenal we have to fight annual floods, The Chamber recognizes the vital role of the military in our region. To recognize service members, The Chamber’s Military Affairs committee plans activities to raise awareness in the community for the work they do and provides opportunities for the community to thank them for their accomplishments. The committee also works to advance public policies that will benefit our region’s military units.

“Military Appreciation Day is a marvelous opportunity for the NDSU Athletic Department, Kadrmas Lee & Jackson, The Chamber, Operation Military Kids and the community to work together to recognize our veterans and their families, said Kris Bakkegard, Manager of Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson’s Fargo office. “We look forward to a terrific event.”
