Feb. 16 Luncheon to focus on impending energy crisis

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Wednesday, February 16
Hjemkomst Center
202 First Avenue North, Moorhead

Fargo Moorhead, ND/MN (February 9, 2011) – The Chamber welcomes energy expert Jason Makansi on Wednesday, February 16 for his luncheon presentation, “Lights Out – The Coming Electricity Crisis.”

For 30 years, Makansi has been analyzing the technological, business, environmental and regulatory issues in electricity production and delivery. He has visited power plants and electricity infrastructure installations around the globe. As an independent consultant, he has advised Fortune 500 companies and garage-based startups and has written three books, the last one titled Lights Out: The Electricity Crisis, the Global Economy, and What It Means to You. He has been interviewed on CNBC, NPR and has written countless articles for industry magazines.

This exploration of the consequences of expanding our electricity infrastructure comes four years after a nationwide ‘energy crisis;’ three years after the worst recession since the great depression; two years after billions in stimulus spent on the grid; and just months after the mid-term elections.

This event includes lunch and is $17 for pre-registered attendees and $25 at the door. Registration is online at FMChamber.com or by calling 218.233.1100.

Business and community members and media personnel are encouraged to attend. The event is sponsored by the FM Engineers Club. For more information, contact Adrienne at 218.359.0524 or adrienne@fmchamber.com.
