The announcement was made at the ChamberChoice Awards Luncheon, held on Thursday, May 13 at the Holiday Inn of Fargo. More than 450 people were in attendance at the event, which honors the vigorous entrepreneurial spirit and important contributions made by businesses in the Fargo Moorhead metropolitan area.

The ChamberChoice Award recipients were chosen from 90 nominated businesses.  Selections were made by a panel of independent judges from the Fargo Moorhead business community, who evaluated accomplishments in the areas of business growth, innovation, creativity, community involvement and unique achievements related to a specific business or industry. Names of the 15 finalists for the ChamberChoice Awards were announced at a March reception.


Project HERO
2010 ChamberChoice Small Not-For-Profit of the Year

Project HERO redistributes reusable durable medical equipment and supplies to those in need locally, regionally and globally.  Unique to the upper Midwest, HERO functions as a clearinghouse for unused health care materials and donated durable medical equipment for individuals in need including hospital beds, wheelchairs, canes, crutches, walkers, bedside commodes, wound care supplies and personal hygiene products. In the past three years, HERO has more than doubled in size, increasing the number of individuals utilizing its services. In 2009, Project HERO collaborated with 105 partner agencies, including community health facilities and human service agencies, resulting in 29,000 items distributed to 1,844 people.  Area hospitals and health care facilities provide products as well as refer clients in need.  Other partner agencies refer clients or obtain items from HERO for distribution at their site.  People unable to afford the cost of new equipment are referred to HERO by health supply stores and health care agencies.  Learn more at www.fmhero.org.

2010 ChamberChoice Not-For-Profit of the Year

Lillestol Research, LLC
2010 ChamberChoice Small Business of the Year

Lillestol Research LLC conducts medical research trials sponsored by well-known, world-wide pharmaceutical companies.  Most of the trials conducted are Phase II or III which means the medications studied are close to or already FDA approved. Lillestol’s research is based on diagnosis and designed to advance not only medicine, but healthcare including current and future treatment options for patients. Clinical trials have grown from 12-14 at any given time in 2006 to approximately 35-40 in 2010. Lillestol is a 100 percent primary sector business contributing significantly to the local economy as all income comes from pharmaceutical companies located outside of North Dakota. Joel Jorgenson
2010 ChamberChoice Entrepreneur of the Year

Joel Jorgenson is CEO and President of Packet Digital LLC, an emerging world leader in power management. After nearly 10 years of taking graduate classes while working full time at Rockwell College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jorgenson graduated with a doctorate in electrical engineering and joined the faculty at North Dakota State University where he became part of the Department of Defense research programs and led graduate students in cutting-edge electronics development.  Collectively, they outperformed everyone while in Fargo and decided that if they started a company, their success would likely continue.  With somewhat humble beginnings, Packet Digital was formed in 2003.  Their plan was simple: succeed on their contracts, win additional contracts and, in their spare time, create world-class intellectual property in advanced power management.  In summary, outperform the industry leading companies from California, Texas, Iowa and around the world.  Today, Packet Digital team holds six patents, with dozens of patents pending.  Their first integrated circuit has been tested by Intel and is in consideration of world-wide adoption in notebook computer designs.
